Poem : Our changing selves

Do we really know who we are?

Are we what we show others on the outside?

Or that when we are alone

Are we what others perceive us?

Maybe it’s a personality unknown…

Are we in touch with our feelings?

Do we know how we have changed?

Or are we too busy to notice?

That from our own selves we may have estranged

Are we the same people we were years ago?

Or have we transformed into something different

Do we still have the same thoughts and actions?

Or we have turned into something insignificant

Do we adjust to people the same way?

Or we are filled with ego and pride

Do we care about others happiness?

Or behind our perceptions we hide

Do we have the same strengths?

Have we preserved them as our own?

Have we worked on our weaknesses?

Or into a better person have we grown

Do we like the new us?

Or we wish to go in the past

That’s a question we must ask ourselves

For everlasting peace and happiness to last….
